The must-see movie releases July 2017 are hitting full-stride as we have made it to the end of the K-12 school year. Things have been up and down thus far as far as Hollywood goes. Wonder Woman and Guardians of The Galaxy 2 have been met with both critical and box-office success, while The Mummy and Pirates of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales have fallen decidedly short of expectations.

July’s eclectic mix of movies can be found here – information on 35 titles.

Some of the big-item tickets include Spiderman: HomeComing; War For Planet of The Apes; Valerian and The City of A Thousand Planets; and The Emoji Movie. These four all have nationwide releases and are the top-billed for the Fridays of July 7th, July 14th, July 21st, and July 28th, respectively. But by no means are they the only films with high expectations and intriguing appeal.

Dramas

Dramas include A Ghost Story with Casey Affleck coming off his Oscar- winning performance in last year’s Manchester By The Sea and Oscar-nominated Rooney Mara (The Girl with Dragon Tattoo – American version). Affleck is a recently deceased man trying to reach his beloved. Another drama is Blind, an intriguing love-triangle involving the sightless Alec Baldwin, Demi Moore, and Dylan McDermott. One more interesting drama features Michael Cera in an ensemble cast. Person To Person focuses on one day in the life of various New Yorkers grappling with issues from the mundane to the highly-charged.

Documentaries

Four serious-topic documentaries are rolling out in July: Santoalla revolves around a disappearance that

occurs in an isolated village in the Spanish mountains; Belief: The Possession of Jane Moses focuses on a real-life exorcism; An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth To Power examines the global warming issue; and City of Ghosts is about ISIS-occupied Syria.

Comedies

Luckily, there are a good number of comedy movies coming out to balance the heavy-duty. These include Superpowerless about a super-hero who loses his powers shortly after turning forty; Austin Found about a scheme to make a family celebrities through a staged kidnapping; and Landline that tells the tale of a family as two sisters try to figure out the secrets of their parents played by the great actors John Turturro and Edie Falco.

Other Genres

There are many more films coming in July in other genres: Thrillers, Action, Adaptations (Lady MacBeth for example) and the much anticipated Dunkirk about the Allied soldiers surrounded and trapped by the German army in late- May and early-June, 1940. The film will be available in IMAX theaters as well as standard venues and is directed by Christopher Nolan (Memento, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Inception) who many consider the greatest director of contemporary times.

From the funny to the fierce, from light fare to the heaviest stories in history, the July releases will surely have something for you. Rochester has a fantastic array of movie venues to choose from, so pick your pleasure and enjoy!

A Time for Re-prioritization and Re-positioning

The first quarter of the year presents a prime opportunity to evaluate and refine the foundational elements of your business. It’s a season to reset priorities, reposition strategies, and ensure that your company is aligned for success in the months ahead. The 4Ps (Personnel, Products, Processes, Policies) are critical areas to assess during this period.
