Popping Some Balloons

We all have those “things” in life that make us feel really happy: sunshine on your face, sand between your toes, a really great gym or yoga session, stick-to-your-ribs mac & cheese. Regardless of what’s on your list, you know what I’m talking about, don’t you?

But let’s face it, aside from what my therapist would deem the “healthy” forms of self-care, nothing quite gets the endorphins flowing like really popping some bozo’s balloon.

Don’t worry, this is a safe space; we can admit those things to each other including how good it feels when, despite someone’s arrogant certitude that they are 100% right, you can bring the receipts to show they are actually 200% wrong.

As storytellers and consultants, we find ourselves popping a lot of balloons to combat misunderstandings about what your efforts to market, advertise or brand to your customer is thought to be versus what it should actually be.

For this very reason, our team at Steven James knew we had to cut through the noise of “opinions,” so through some deep soul-searching, we developed our 3 mantras to Bossify Your Brand.

Let’s pop some balloons together, shall we?

Mantra #1: Be a Better Storyteller

Myth: Our strategic plan is all about the numbers. All our marketing team needs to get us on the map is a great logo and a catchy tagline.

Reality: Hardly! You can have the best idea in the world, but without discerning a brand strategy that conveys your authentic voice and makes your clients feel like your service/product is key to their success, we’re just filling your balloon with water and expecting it to fly.

Mantra #2: Video is Vital

Myth: Video is a big ticket item. We need to really watch the ROI.

Reality: If someone is really trying to convince you it’s all about crunching numbers, then they’ve missed the science on effective messaging. And by science, I mean actual research and crunched numbers. Video is processed and understood by the brain 60,000x faster than the written word. – Still think video is too big a ticket item? Time to reevaluate that ROI.

Mantra #3: Passion & Energy Are Tactical

Myth: If you build it, they will come.

Reality: Remember that warm, healthy, fuzzy feeling we talked about up-top? Well, unless we can convince your client or customer to feel the way you feel about your business, that balloon is sinking. Your passion & energy are why you started doing what you do…relating that emotion using mantras 1 & 2 is how you’re going to pack the stadium at your field of dreams.

Marketing & advertising is hard work, both for your team and mine. But by following our mantras to Bossify Your Brand, we can really elevate it together.

After all, at the end of the day, we want to be soaring in our hot air balloon above the competition. We don’t want to be in a wicker basket attached to a flame thrower.
